Apple Core quilts have wonderful gentle curves that create movement and excitement. These gentle curves are a great first curve project. The pieces for this project are large and easy to work and create a great space to feature your favorite fabrics or a great selection of ombres. The object of the class is to learn to use the apple core tool, sew curves and create a piece of art with your fabric selection.
Date: April 3 10:30 - 11:30 (cutting session)
April 10 10:30 – 1:30 (design and construction session)
Cost: $45.00
Supplies:
Fabric shown (8) ½ yard pieces of Bohemian Rhapsody. Each half yard yields approximately 8 apple core pieces. 42 apple core pieces make a quilt approximately 40 x 44 inches. Adding borders or more rows of apple core pieces would make the quilt larger. I suggest the smaller quilt for a first-time project.
10-inch apple core template by cut sew quick, fabric marking utensil (chaco-liner, hera marker or your favorite marking tool), rotary cutter (28 mm is preferred), cutting mat, straight pins, seam ripper, and a sewing machine with a ¼ inch foot. A design wall or area would be helpful when designing your piece.
